Jeremy, it appears to me that there is a distinct fourth: the ability of VC's to raise new funds is diminished due to loss of investor liquidity, and increased risk of finding an exit (especially IPO).

Every company could use a Gerstner. Although he was an outsider, he knew how to listen to customers, ask the right questions, and make decisions. Fixing Yahoo is not an engineer's job, it requires understanding customer needs.

On one hand, sad loss, I used to love that rag in the 80's and 90's, before I started getting all my news from the web. On the other, no surprise, it can't be long before the whole publishing industry follows the same fate. Well, YAY GREEN! (he sadly shouts as he wipes a tear from his eye)

I think the better question is whether investors are prepared to endure the long haul? There are just a handful of founders with the gall to complain that it took a few extra years to reach a successful exit after funding. Interesting data, though, thanks Jeremy!
